How To Use The PIP (www.peopleinthepress.com)

Over the years students have commented on how hard it is to find the right person to approach for projects, internships or jobs. Alumni may not be present in firms where students want to work - even at schools with sophisticated alumni networks. Where alumni are present, they can be overloaded with requests for information from students and sometimes don’t know who the right person is to contact  - especially in a large company.

As a solution to this Workmaze has developed People in the Press - an easily searchable, constantly updated database of key contacts based on their coverage in leading national, international and trade publications. It has the following benefits to students:

  • It is updated weekly so students can be sure they are getting the latest information.
  • We give additional information where it is reported, such as where the contact is based, their area of responsibility or when they joined. This gives students more information for a direct approach.
  • It saves students time as they no longer have to scan the press for names.
  • Students have access to current recruitment news to assist them in their applications.

The workshop we run is tailored to each individual school, however the core proposition is to explain how direct approaches can fit into your job search strategy, and how to make the best use of ‘People in the Press’.
